Pruning back to tighter story in the novel. 11/22/2011
I took Reg fishing last night. We didn't catch any fish but we did catch a last minute discounted meat special in the supermarket on the way home. I picked up my new pillows, a catch of the day special and had my best night's sleep in months. Makes a mental note to buy myself new pillows every year, they do not keep their softness over time. I have set myself a goal to edit 10,000 words a day though I am only 1/4 of the way to that target at midday today and need a break. I can see the part ahead of me can be dramatically shortened. It doesn't take me a lot of courage to remove a few hundred words, but to cut out a few thousand...I think I need a cup of coffee to give me the strength to do that. This is why it pays to leave a novel alone for a while following an edit, so you have the courage to prune heavily when you come back. Now there's a good idea. I can go prune the roses, then pruning the novel will seem easy. lol :-). Comments Comments are closed. | Investment standard art by award winning artist.
